Pie Contest

Handmade Pie Contest Rules

  • Crusts and fillings must be made from scratch.

  • Cream pies, dairy (such as quiches), and meat pies are not accepted for judging or consumption due to food safety laws. (Eggs can be used in crust, nut pie fillings, or egg washes.)

  • Enter as many different pies as you would like. Up to 3 pies on a registration form.

  • Each pie must be 8-10 inches in diameter. The covered pie plate/pan must be labeled with your name and phone number. Your dish will be returned after pie sales are completed.

  • Each entry must include the name of the baker and name of the pie (be creative with your name!)

  • No Entry Fee - Pie Slices will be sold to the public for $5 each and proceeds will benefit future Bronc Day Festivals. Bakers will get a free ticket to try any pie.

Schedule

  • Register your pie before midnight on July 26.

  • Registrations are accepted at pie drop off but pre-registrations are encouraged.

  • Drop off your covered pie between 7:30 am to 8:45 am at the Green Box offices at the east end of Lake Street.

  • Judging starts at 9:00 am.

  • Winners will be announced after the parade (approximately 11:00 am).

  • Pie Slices will not be sold until all pies have been judged

Divisions (1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes in each)

  • Junior Baker (12 and under)

  • Adult

Judging

All pies will be identified for judging by an anonymous number. In the case of a tie, judges will break the tie and select a winner.

Pies will be judged in four areas:

  • Overall appearance, creativity, taste, and texture.
