Pie Contest

Handmade Pie Contest Rules
  • Crusts and fillings must be made from scratch.

  • Dessert pies only please.

  • Contestants are limited to 2 pies each.

  • Each pie must be 8-10 inches in diameter. The covered pie plate/pan must be labeled with your name and phone number. Your dish will be returned after pie sales are completed.

  • Each entry must include the name of the baker and name of the pie (be creative with your name!)

  • No Entry Fee - Pie samples will be sold to the public. Proceeds will benefit future Bronc Day Festivals. Bakers will get a free ticket to try any pie.

Schedule

  • Pre-registration is required. Register your pie before midnight on Friday, July 24.

  • Drop off your pies on July 24, the evening before Bronc Day from 5-7 pm or on July 25, Bronc Day, from 7:30 to 8:45 am. No pies will be accepted for judging after 8:45 am.  

  • Judging starts at 9:00 am.

  • Winners will be announced after the parade (approximately 11:00 am).

  • Pie Flights (3 mini slices) will not be sold until all pies have been judged

Judging

  • All pies will be identified for judging by an anonymous number. In the case of a tie, judges will break the tie and select a winner.​

  • Pies will be judged in four areas:

  • Overall appearance, creativity, taste, and texture.

  • Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place!
